The Retina Institute of California offers a two year medical and surgical retina fellowship that participates in the San Francisco Match Program. A single fellow is accepted every two years through a competitive selection process. The mission of the fellowship is to provide university level training in the setting of a modern and efficient private practice.
Fellows will receive an extensive clinical and surgical experience in treating vitreo-retinal diseases. They will perform a large number of surgical cases and procedures including lasers and injections. The Fellowship will provide a broad based surgical experience as the fellow will work closely with multiple different attendings learning a variety of surgical techniques. One of primary goals of the fellowship is to train an outstanding surgeon. In addition, the fellow will be expected to participate in research and will be encouraged to publish and present at meetings. The fellowship will be based in the Retina Institute clinics in the Los Angeles area.
In the second year, fellows could have an opportunity to start building their own supervised clinic. The fellow will have reasonable call responsibilities that will allow them to have a balanced life and enjoy Southern California.
